Iconic Uggs

This iconic footwear was founded in 1978 by Australian surfer Brian Smith and Doug Jensen. Outbreak for the UGG brand was in the year 2003 when Oprah Winfrey showed them in the second edition of her “Oprah’s Favorite Things” in which she purchased over 350 shoes for her staff and audience. Shoes have also appeared in the famous show Sex and the City, in which they were worn by Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). UGG’s were also seen on other celebrities like Kate Upton, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Blake Lively, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ronnie Wood, and others.

Ugg boots are actually unisex style of boot made of sheepskin and fleece, and were often worn by surfers in Australia. In the 1970s they were introduced to surfers in the UK and US. Sheepskin gives isothermal properties to the boots, fleece in the inside allows the air circulation in the boot, to keep you warm in cold weather and cold in warm weather.

Since UGG boots are made out of sheepskin, they have been the subject of criticism for a long time now. But the company claims that no animals are specifically killed for the boots, but the processed skin comes as the side product from the meat industry.
